A: Turing College is a brand new Technical College teaching an accelerated Computer Science / Software Engineering curriculum.
A: Our initial program is highly tailored to each individual student, but our initial degrees will be AS in Computer Science, ASD (Software Development) MS in Computer Science, MS in Software Engineering.
A: In a nutshell, we have re-invented what a college is from the ground up. We have created an online learning system which allows us to teach much faster than has been thought possible, with higher retention and better connection with students, mentors and professors. On top of this learning system, we have developed an advanced curriculum which teaches CS/SE at a level that has not been available outside of elite engineering schools. And, just for fun, we have completely reshaped the University business model allowing us to charge much less for tuition, eliminate fees completely all while paying our Professors more than any other college in the country.
A: We're faster, more focused on practical application, significantly less expensive, and somewhat easier to get into. We also tailor our program to each student's ideal pace, abilities and goals. Also, we don't require you to move to Boston. On the down side, we also don't have MIT's reputation....yet.
A: If you are learning algebra in the 10th grade, there is probably no better system than Khan's and you definitely can't beat the price. If, however, you want to reach the upper limits of Computer Science knowledge, then you may have to wait a while for Khan to catch up from a content and technology perspective.
A: Without saying anything that could result in a libel suit, we can say that Phoenix has a different set of priorities than we do. We are focused on technology education at a level which has not been possible while aggressively reducing the total cost of education.
A: We have not applied for accreditation, as one of the key requirements is to have our first student graduate.
A: Until we are granted accreditation, not very likely.
A: Our initial program is designed as a 2-3 year intensive program, and includes the equivilant of the in major portions of BS in CS, a MS in CS and a MS in SE.
A: As long as you meet our technology requirements (broadband connection, modern computer), you can apply for admission to our degree programs or take classes as a continuing education student.
A: We have a very simple pricing structure. The only costs for attending Turing College are tuition and textbooks. No fees (hidden or otherwise). Our current tuition for US students is $250 per credit hour, with an average of 4 credit hours per class.
A: We do offer direct financial aid for qualified students, but until we are accredited, we are unable to offer federal student loans or grants.
A: From federally recognized accredited schools, yes.
A: Yes and no. Work experience does not directly apply towards your degree credit requirements, but we do not require you to sit through classes you may already be an expert in. We use a combination of skills assessment and coding interviews to determine your starting point, which means your degree work applies directly towards acquiring new knowledge.
A: Initially, beyond some writing, computer history and communications courses, no. The flexibility of our system allows you to take liberal arts classes at a traditional university in conjunction with out in-major coursework.
